1) Conventional turning is suitable for the outer circle processing of shaft parts in various batches and is widely used. Single-piece and small-batch turning processes are often accomplished using bedroom lathes. For medium batch and mass production, automatic, semi-automatic lathes and special lathes are used to complete turning processing.


2) CNC turning is suitable for single-piece, small-batch and medium-batch production. Its application is becoming increasingly widespread. Its main advantages are good flexibility and short equipment adjustment and preparation time when changing processed parts. During processing, there is less auxiliary time, and efficiency can be improved by optimizing cutting parameters and adapting control, etc. The processing quality is good, with few special tools and fixtures, and the corresponding production preparation cost is low. The technical requirements for machine tool operation are low and are not affected by factors such as the operator's skills, vision, mental state, and physical strength.


For shaft parts, the following characteristics are suitable for CNC turning. Parts with complex structures or shapes, difficult ordinary processing operations, long working hours and low processing efficiency. Parts with high requirements for consistency in processing accuracy. For parts with variable cutting conditions, such as those that require grooving, hole turning, thread turning, etc. due to their shape characteristics, the cutting parameters need to be changed multiple times during processing. For shaft parts with keyways, radial holes (including screw holes), and holes distributed on the end face (including screw holes), such as flanged shafts, shafts with keyways or square heads, which are not large in batch size but vary in variety and have a certain degree of complexity in each batch, they can also be processed on turning machining centers. Besides being able to perform ordinary CNC turning, All kinds of grooves, holes (including screw holes), surfaces and other processing surfaces on the parts can also be processed at the same time. The process is highly concentrated, and its processing efficiency is higher than that of ordinary CNC turning, with more stable and reliable processing accuracy.
